About the course:
In this digital course, participants will explore the significance of cultural awareness and sensitivity in eating disorder practice, research, and advocacy. The course will examine the spectrum of cultural competence, cultural humility, and culturally responsive practice, providing a foundational understanding of the key differences between these approaches. Participants will also receive a broad overview of evidence-based resources to help identify key indicators and standards for success in applying cultural competency across various areas, including language and communication, service delivery, skill building, workforce and leadership development, and more. Additionally, the course will address critical considerations for cultural competency in the context of eating disorders, such as body size and weight, food security status, age, and cultural background.
