About the course:
While ethical principles themselves don’t change, the common ethical principles guiding our care decisions and informing everyday ethical dilemmas shift as societal norms evolve. Other factors also guide treatment decisions, including: illness severity, illness length, therapeutic relationship, comorbidities, provider bias, clinician blocks, and clinician burnout.
In this course, you’ll review common ethical principles that guide care decisions and inform ethical dilemmas in mental health and eating disorder treatment.
You’ll examine other factors to consider when determining next steps in a client's treatment journey. You’ll also consider alternative interventions, including virtual programs and how to incorporate them into a client's existing treatment.
Given the increase in remote programs and practices, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of remote care, as well as items to consider when treating eating disorders using telehealth.
We’ll also address other factors that can jeopardize one's ability to problem-solve solutions, including clinician bias and burnout.
Lastly, you’ll learn a format to address critical resources for problem-solving clinical and ethical dilemmas.
